Currently the highest cacao percentage bar in our offerings. I think this origin is very suited to transitioning the pallet to "darker" chocolate. This Palomino origin is very non-offensive to the palate. It's soft and subtle with aromas of hay with notes of banana and fudge over a backdrop of tropical fruits.
It also is a bean origin with a great story. Grown by the Arhuaco indigenous community in the Sierra Nevada, these beans were nearly lost for good. For hundreds of years the Arhuaco people were displaced from their ancestral lands and forced into the highlands. Outsiders mistakenly thought a rare white cacao was infected and cut the trees. Luckily, some old cacao trees survived in the shade of the wilderness. After being allowed to return to their ancestral land the Arhuacos recently started to harvest their precious cacaos again. One they named “Businchari” which means “new beginning.” Odyssey Chocolate is proud to be able to help support the Arhuaco indigenous community and bring to you this amazing and rare cacao.
